First day – Arrival in Reggio Emilia and accommodation in the hotel. Visit to a wonderful farm on the hills. Here you will discover the secrets of two special local products: Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia, which is aged for at least twelve years in the attics of the acetaie, and the famous Lambrusco, typical wine well-known all over the world. The visit will end with a tasting of both products. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. In the afternoon visit to the Bianello Castle, medieval fortress that overlooks the town of Quattro Castella. In the evening, gourmet dinner in a 1 Michelin starred restaurant, considered by gourmets to be a temple to Emilian cuisine. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Second day – Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the Southern Parma area. Visit to a prestigious farm where black pigs belonging to an ancient local breed are reared outdoors in a protected natural landscape which is surrounded by valleys, geysers known locally as “barboj” and oak forests. Then visit at the factory in Traversetolo where their ham is cured, ending with a special carving board for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon visit to a producer of Malvasia located in front of Torrechiara Castle. At the end of the visit tasting session of three different wines and possibility to visit the castle. Dinner in a traditional restaurant and overnight stay at the hotel.
Third day – Breakfast at the hotel and morning at leisure to visit Reggio Emilia city centre: the Cathedral, Prampolini Square, Basilica of San Prospero, the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine della Ghiara, Fontanesi Square and expecially visit the current exhibition at Palazzo Magnani. Transfer to Scandiano to have lunch in a very famous restaurant of that area. Visit to Boiardo Fortress, built in the XII century which now, after the many changes over the years, it conserves different styles: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and Modern.
